I have increased our Te Reo by adding it to our Morning Routine. We say the month, days, date and how we are feeling in Te Reo Maori. The teachers ask the question and the kids respond, all in Te Reo.

We say a Pou Mihi every morning

Pou kaha rawa - Manaakitia mai
Pou Haerenga - Haere ra
Pou oranga - Mihi mai
Pou manawhenua - Takoto mai
Pou herenga waka - Toia mai
Tihei mauri ora

I assist with Te Puawai our Kapa Haka group where I play guitar and assist in leading the waiata.

We set up a class treaty at the beginning of the year and discussed the relevance to us as New Zealanders.
